Darfield High School is putting its Canterbury Community Trust donation to good use by purchasing COWs!  Computers On Wheels.

The COW system is completely portable and enables 16 notebook computers to be transported around the school using a custom designed trolley. With the school’s new wireless network system students can access the internet from almost any place in the school.

Trustees recently visited Darfield High School and were treated to a lesson, using the COW, in a modern day classroom.

History

In 1970, Blenheim's theatre, the privately owned His Majesty's, was condemned as an earthquake risk, and demolished. In 1974 the Marlborough Civic Theatre Trust was formed. Over the next 11 years it:

September 2011 - The Spirit of Champions

The Canterbury Community Trust (TCCT) trustees visited the Champion Centre on 26th September 2011. In recent years TCCT has made annual donations to the Christchurch Early Intervention Trust which operates out of the Champion Centre. These funds help and contribute to the excellent work carried out at the Champion Centre.

The Christchurch City Mission has been servicing the Canterbury Community for the past 100 years.  They started as a “meal room” at St Lukes Church providing meals for the poor of the city.  The City Mission now provide a full range of social services to those in need.

In 2008 The Canterbury Community Trust (TCCT)  as part of its 20 year of existence celebrations specifically allocated $20 million dollars for affordable social  housing projects.  Since that time, in the Canterbury Area, TCCT have formally approved 16 housing projects and 6 of those projects are now completed.
