"Trustees of the Canterbury Community Trust, the second largest Community Trust in New Zealand, have decided to increase the amount of donations that will be made to the communities of Canterbury, Nelson, Marlborough and the Chatham Islands for the financial year to 31 March 2011, Trust Chair Barry Dent says.

This decision continues the Trust's policy to maintain a Donation budget at four per cent of the Trust's capital.  The effect of this decision is to increase last years Donation budget from $19.52 million to $20.0 million for the year ended 31 March 2011.

"The Trust's income for the March 2010 year was over $61.4 million and with a surplus of over $32.5 Million this has allowed Trustees to continue their Donation policy and at the same time rebuild the reserves of the Trust" Dent said.

"The donations policy will be considered again in early 2011 and as is usual will be announced to our communities in good time to allow them to plan for future contingencies" Dent said
